Andrew J. Forgas, 95, of Springfield, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. He was born on November 21, 1916 in Springfield to Andrew and Mary Koskey Forgas, Sr. He married Joan T. Dunn on September 2, 1946.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, two daughters Cathy M. (Mike) Snopko and Mary Beth (Rai) Richardson, both of Springfield, five grandchildren, Mike (Rachelle) Snopko, Casey Richardson, Jennifer Snopko, Tess and Claire Richardson, one great grandson, Gavin Snopko and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Forgas was a member at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Force with the 13th Air Force from 1942-1946. He belonged to Elks Lodge #158, Sangamo Surf Club, and a former member of Knights of Columbus Council #364.
Visitation: 12 noon-1:00 p.m. at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Tuesday February 21, 2012.
Funeral Mass: 1:00 pm Tuesday February 21, 2012 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Peter Harman officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
Memorials may be given to Cathedral Grade School.
