Mariane Smith, 77, of Springfield died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 19, 1934 in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Alice Vaniter Catalano. She married Edward B. Smith in 1954.
Mariane is survived by her husband, three sons Edward B. Smith of Springfield, Frank (Jamye) Smith, of Denver, CO, and Kenneth A. Smith of Bancock Thailand, three sisters, Carmella Sandberg and Nancy Ousley both of Springfield, and Helen Thomas of Pittsfield, six brothers, John, Andrew, Joseph, Pete, Tony and Thomas Catalano all of Springfield, four grandchildren, Edward B. Smith III, Corrine Sonneborn, Brandi Workman, and Cooper Smith, eight great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Virginia Oldridge, Joanne Sowa and Frances Smith, and one brother Vito Catalano.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
